Think about it. A small yacht just off shore incase you run out of food, and since zombies cant swim, your good.

But what if the Zombies can swim by just trying to run towards the boat Then you will be in huge troubles with no where to run.

A zombie cannot swim, no matter what kind of zombie it is.

The classic, slow moving zombies do not have the physical abilities (mainly the control over their muscles) to swim, heck they can't even run! Also, swimming costs a great deal of strenght, something those zombies don't have either.

Second, the 28 zombies. They do have the strenght and body control to swim, yet I do not think they can do it as well, since you swimming requires thought and control. If somebody is in pure rage and his only objective is to get to the boat he will not calm down and swim. An example are panicked people in the water. Even experienced swimmers will drown if they do not focus and calm down.

A boat can either be a good or bad idea. The good thing is that you are isolated and save from zombies. The bad thing is that you are isolated from everything else as well. Food is your main problem, but smaller boats can't even shelter you against a burning sun or heavy rain and cold. If you are able to move the boat you can go to other places and search for food their. If not, you are just a sitting duck with many zombies on the mainland waiting utill you have to go to land for food.

It could however work. Ancient Chinese ships had some gardens on them to supply the crew with vegetables and fruits. You can even bring chickens for eggs. Rods for fish are also a great way to get a free meal. You can get the water out of the lake. If you are on the ocean there are ways to clean the water. Brings some cards and friends (women not advised) so the solitude won't drive you mad.

Note however that above is a huge project and would require weeks of preparation. If you have the resources, transport and manpower to organize a thing like this, you might consider if it would be worth to leave your current base of operations for it.

Still. if you live in an urban area, close to the sea or a big lake then this might indeed be your best option. Just don't forget many people will try to do the same.

The best option would be to find isolated islands to stay in.

Thousands of lakes and small islands are in Finland =)

The most special islands that in these case would be in golf of Finland. There is 2 islands that had life before 2nd world war, but after fins lost, those two isolated islands became empty.
If any place in the world would be best place to hide quickly and easy to get with a smal boat then those would be the place.

Madagaskar. They'll close the borders when any potentially pandemic disease is on the rise. It would be your best bet, get on a boat over to Madagaskar.. Tongue

I think it would be better to hide in an army base in the country or other places to find food easily. So you can have a variety of weapons ammo many food and trained soldiers. Or find (always the military bases or police stations) empty building barricades and organizing and cultivating one or more gardens within.
Another option is to hide in a house in the high mountains where most probably infected or zombies will never for sure! For the mountain house but the problem is food. So I think the best idea is to barricade himself in an army base with a cultivated garden and huge amounts of food reserves! Being on a boat could kill you because you should live by fishing and quantity of fish caught daily is not constant, you could catch fish such as 100 or 0 only 2! Not remember the name but here in Italy there is a house that I believe is the president of the republic (not that asshole Berlusconi) extremely large, with many many many acres surrounded by a great wall about 3 feet high that reaches the sea. (perhaps not the President) The I can hunt and cultivate in large quantities! that would be the perfect place much better than the boat!  Wink  Wink  Wink   cooollll lol!
