[Request]: Looking to Help Out
« on: March 01, 2010, 04:25:28 PM »

Hello All,

My name is Casey, I am a student currently studying at Qantm College's (Sydney Campus).
I was previously studying under Russell, who I believe was in contact with some of the team regarding the project.
As it stands our college is currently running a multitude of  "Games Design" courses with many students.

On behalf of these students I would like to express our interest in helping the Death by Design team!
I humbly request that you consider our application as the majority of students here have the necessary skills
to make games we are all just looking for some industry experience to get us through the door of the games industry.

I personally have completed my previous major works in the Crytek Engine, and would be available to submit images
on request of some of my previous levels. Other students may be able to help with character modeling and as well
as assets creation and much more.

I have spoken to the education board at Qantm who said that although Qantm could not change its assessment
criteria to suit our needs, they would more than encourage the students on performing within the DbD team on a
extracurricular basis.

If you need to know anything at all please don't hesitate to ask me.

Thanks again for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon.  Smiley

The mod's been dead, a long time. I just happen to stumble upon the forums again after a long time of inactivity, but if you REALLY insist on continuing, you should message Jey Hicks. I've sent a pm with his email address in it.

You might be able to get some of the old devs back on working the on mod too. I dont think i will though.

Anyway, if you do want to revive this mod, you'll need someone who will take the lead too. If you have a whole class who can work on this, it's pretty good to have someone take the lead then, but i doubt it's going to work. Modding is time consuming, especially a mod like this.

Good luck mate!

Hey thanks for the update, but we have been in contact with Jey and some of the other members for quite some time now. The mod is officially back up and running with nearly 30 students so far and still growing.
I hope we could change your mind about re-joining the team even if its on a casual level. A lot of the team are just looking to get some good experience on a real project rather than the hypothetical ones in our curriculum and it would be a great opportunity to be working side by side with some developers who can provide insight and advice from the industries side.

Thanks again for the tip though.

Well, you could also get experience in public relations while developing the mod aswell Wink. Could start by keeping people informed about the process and posting weekly news, being more active in the forums and such. Because of the inactiveness the forum has apparently died, but one can always be resurrected over time.
